Frosty Relations by Tara Quan

Please welcome Tara Quan with her latest paranormal 1Night Stand.

With the holidays upon us there are troves of books to curl up with by the fireplace. My paranormal romantic comedy goes great with mulled wine and cinnamon cookies. Part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand line, Frosty Relations features a young college graduate facing the complicated world of adulthood and confronting the frost mage she’s had a crush on for most of her life. Add some Christmas magic and Madame Eve’s renowned matchmaking service, and we’ve got the beginnings of an icy-hot love story. Those who’ve read my Halloween release Flirting with Fire already know Jack, this tale’s hunk.

Frosty Relations (A Witch’s Night Out, 2)
Blurb:

Attorney Jack Frost never understood why holidays did weird things to people. His secretary went on vacation, his best friend ditched their annual Aspen trip, and the law firm’s stubborn human resources assistant refuses his clerical support request. What’s a warlock to do on Christmas Eve but go on a 1-Night Stand? But when an oddly familiar empath shows up as his date, this ice mage has a hard time denying the magic of the winter solstice.
Faced with an anemic employment market and financial woes, college graduate and former witch Mina Mao lands an HR assistant job at Frost and Sons. Having spent her day saving Christmas from Frost Junior’s Grinch-like behavior, she accepts the gift of Madame Eve’s service and heads over to the Castillo Capital. When her date turns out to be her childhood crush and workplace nemesis, she braces herself for the sexiest icy ride of her life.

Excerpt

Yawning, he settled more comfortably into the seat and embraced the lulling haze. His mind wandered to the day Mina had showed up for an interview. In a departure from her current fashion slump, she’d worn a short skirt suit and glossy-black high-heeled pumps. On her way out, she’d swung by his office to drop off his major weakness—Shanghai White Rabbit Creamy Candy. He’d given her a high five and wished her luck.
That day, she’d stayed for no more than a few minutes and had left the door open. But in this foggy, slumbering vision somewhere between the dreams he could never recall and actual memory, he reached over her shoulder to shut it.
~
A mischievous grin on her face, she tilted her head back and met his gaze. “What do you want, Jack?”
He lifted his index finger and placed it over his lips. “Shh....”
Sashaying past him with feline grace, she shrugged off her jacket to reveal a crimson silk blouse. After draping the discarded garment over an office chair, she turned to face his desk. Placing her palms on the suddenly clutter-free glass, she threw him a sideways glance and motioned him over with her head.
The warmth of balmy fall allowed her to show off those smooth, toned legs. The tailored dark-green cotton hugged her ass’s subtle curve, the back slit giving him glimpses of her creamy thighs.
Coming up behind her, he closed one palm over her mouth. She remained still, her small body trembling as he nibbled her neck. He grazed his teeth over the slender slope, pausing to suck a bright-red hickey onto her snowy skin.
Hearing a muffled moan, he clamped his fingers tighter as he slid his other hand under her skirt. Finding damp heat, he yanked down her panties. The scarlet lace fell to circle her four-inch heels.
Biting her earlobe, he whispered, “Stay quiet, or everyone will know I’m fucking you.”
With one hand, he unbuckled his belt and freed his erection, his other arm still holding her in silent captivity. He kicked her legs apart and hiked up her skirt. Sliding his length between the creamy cheeks, he probed her wet opening with the tip of his cock.
~
A loud feline hiss jerked him out of the dream. Sharp claws dug into his thighs as the chair rolled back and hit the wall. The cat scampered off his lap. Rubbing his eyes, he tried to remember where he was. Once his mind regained focus, he glanced down at his crotch and noticed the very visible bulge. He could see why she’d reacted in a rather extreme fashion.
With a soft popping sound, the woman whose bare butt he’d envisioned appeared in front of him, her snowflake earrings swaying against the sides of her rosy face. At least she’d lost the Santa hat. “What the heck were you thinking about?”
The most honest answer would give her the wrong idea. After all, he wasn’t attracted to her. He’d happened to be envisioning office sex with someone who bore a remarkable resemblance to her, at the same time he got an erection, while she’d been on his lap—all unrelated events.

Interview:

Who would be in your cast if your book was made into a TV show or movie?
Thank you for having me today, Vicki! If Beneath the Starry Sky became a TV show or movie, I would pick Josh Duhamel to play my hero, Josh. (Yes, he was the inspiration.) And I would pick Jennifer Aniston to play Tamara.

Which character would you most like to spend time with and why?
I would love to spend time with either one of them. They are both down-to-Earth characters who have had to learn to deal with changes in their lives. They’ve made tough decisions and are stronger for it.

Would you like to live in the world you created?
This story begins in Las Vegas, which to be honest, holds no appeal to me. I’m not one for big cities. But, they do end up hiking at Mount Charlston, which I would love to visit.

Which trait do you most like in your MC?
I like Tamara’s spunk. She does deal with some vulnerability due to her alopecia, but when she’s feeling confident, watch out!

Your MC is having a relaxing evening at home. What is he or she doing?

If she’s alone, she’s likely reading with a glass of wine. If Josh is with her, well, I’m sure you can imagine. ;)

Spotlight on Seoul Spankings by Anastasia Vitsky

Today I want to welcome a fellow Decadent Publishing author, Anastasia. She's a very funny person who often makes me laugh. Anyway, she's talking about her newest release, Seoul Spankings, a 1NightStand story. I always enjoy learning more about how an author wrote a book and what inspired it so instead of an excerpt, I've put in some of Ana's answers to some questions.

Book Title: Seoul Spankings
Publisher: Decadent Publishing Company, LLC
Date Published: March 25, 2015
Genre(s): Contemporary Romance, Multicultural Romance, Interracial Romance, Bisexual Romance, GLBT Romance
Heat Rating: 4 flames – light BDSM and spanking elements with sexual scenes
Page Count: 80

Blurb:

Broken-hearted when her live-in boyfriend impregnates her best frenemy, Indigo Adams accepts a one-way ticket to Seoul, South Korea, and a challenge from her Great-Aunt Matilda: Forget that boy. Go and make something of yourself.

Bruised from an international public relations nightmare as the new heir to the multi-billion-dollar Han Incorporated, Hyunkyung Han seeks positive publicity in the form of a wedding. She consults with Madame Eve to find a nice, well-behaved Korean American with bilingual and bicultural skills.

Instead, Madame Eve sends Indi, a naïve philosophy major graduate working for minimum wage at the local pub. Enraged to find Indi can’t speak one word of Korean, Hyunkyung orders her sent home on the next plane to Spillville, Iowa.

Then Hyunkyung shakes Indi’s hand, and the sparks fly. With all of her professional responsibilities, how can Hyunkyung allow herself to fall for the wrong woman? How can Indi feel attraction for a woman who despises her?

Seoul Spankings offers a light-hearted romp through the perils and joys of navigating an intercultural romance. Certain to delight all fans of a happily ever after with a kinky twist.

Author Bio:

Cookie queen, wooden spoon lady, and champion of carbs, Anastasia Vitsky specializes in F/F fiction. She hates shoes and is allergic to leather. When not writing about women who live spankily ever after, she coordinates reader and author events such as Spank or Treat, Love Spanks, and Sci Spanks. Her favorite event is Ana’s Advent Calendar, a month-long celebration of books, community, and making a difference.
She is too afraid to watch Doctor Who, but she adores The Good Wife and anything with Audrey Hepburn. In her next life, she will learn how to make the perfect pie crust. She can be found at governingana.wordpress.com and on twitter @AnastasiaVitsky.

Interview:

What’s your book about?
Seoul Spankings is about an Iowa farmgirl who overcomes heartbreak about her cheating boyfriend and finds new life and love in South Korea.

Where did you get the idea for this book?
I wrote Desire in Any Language several years ago about a girl who studies abroad in Korea, and the response was overwhelming. When I received the invitation to write for the 1Night Stand series, I wanted to return to Korea and pair a Korean woman with a naïve girl from Iowa.

What traits and other tidbits do you share with your main character?
Indigo is not much like me because I love to travel the world, learn new languages, and try new cuisines. However, I share her trusting nature and desire for everyone to get along. Plus, I think spanking is sexy and terrific.

Did any of your inspiration for this book originate in your real life experiences?
I spent some time in South Korea and fell in love with the country and people there. Writing books that take place there reminds me of some of the happiest years of my life. I am jealous of Indi’s good fortune and wish I could find a Hyunkyung of my own!

Does your book take place in a specific region that would make people take an interest?
South Korea is a vibrant, thriving country with five thousand years of history and culture. It boasts some of the most generous hospitality in the world, and its food offers rich delights including its famous kimchi (spicy fermented cabbage).

Could an American girl survive and thrive in South Korea?
It depends on the girl. Indi makes a terrible first impression by dressing inappropriately, expecting everyone to speak English, and assuming that US standards are universal. However, Hyunkyung is more than happy to teach her otherwise—often with a good spanking!

Could two women have a public relationship in Korea?
It’s a good question, but should we give homophobia more credence than it deserves? I dream of a world in which women’s love for each other is accepted as natural and beautiful. By writing a story in which sexuality is incidental and instead we focus on the growing love between the two main characters, I hope I can help make this dream come true. Won’t you join me?

Do you have other project in the works? If so, what are they?
I have more projects than time to finish them! I recently finished a short story, “Anchored,” that tells of a sixty-one-year-old retired librarian who moves to Florida and falls in love with the president of her homeowners’ association. It’s one of the first stories to show lesbian love at an older age, and beta readers have been thrilled to see themselves represented in romance.

I’m also working on sequels to Taliasman, Mistress on Her Knees, and a special project for Pride in June. Also, I have most of the sequel to Seoul Spankings planned out. There will be a few other projects for the summer and fall, including my first half-fairy, half-human story.

Author Interview with Thea Landen

Today, I have 1Night Stand author, Thea Landen talking about her erotic sci-fi book, Elysium. She's also answered some interview questions so we can learn more about her. Welcome, Thea!!

Blurb:

Two years have passed since April Patterson’s husband was shot and killed in the line of duty, and she’s trapped in a haze of grief and uncertainty. Having grown frustrated by all other efforts to engage her in activities where she could meet new people, her cousin pays for a date via 1Night Stand. Not thrilled with the idea, April nevertheless contacts Madame Eve and requests the impossible: a date with her deceased husband.

Brilliant software engineer Drew Monroe created his company, Elysium, to help give closure to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, through the use of virtual reality. Though passionate about his work, being constantly surrounded by heartache and death has taken a toll on his mental health. When he accepts the case of a young widow referred to him by Madame Eve, her tragic tale depresses him further, but he commits himself to programming April the romantic date she desires.

April arrives at Elysium and prepares to enter Drew’s virtual realm. Will she find the solace she seeks within? Or will she discover she doesn’t need a fantasy world to discover happiness again?

Review on Amazon: “Judging from the pile of tissues, this short book is at least a five tissue book if you're a crier; however, it's laughter, as well!”

Author Bio:

Thea Landen lives in New York with her husband and a variety of houseplants. A former educator, she strives to encourage creativity and passion in all those around her, and uses writing to help inspire. Though she reads and writes in nearly all genres, she has a special fondness for science fiction, fantasy, and adventure and anything that pushes the imagination beyond its usual limits. When she’s not writing, or thinking about writing, her hands and mind are occupied by either yarn crafts or role-playing games.

Author Interview:

Share two things that inspired your book.
For years, I’d had an idea in the back of my mind about a woman somehow having a romantic encounter with her deceased husband. I was initially thinking some sort of ghost story/something in the paranormal genre, but then I went in another direction. My first book in the 1Night Stand series was contemporary, and I wanted to get back to my sci-fi/fantasy roots.

What was your favourite scene to write?
Oh, that’s an easy one! The scene where April first kisses Drew (and his reaction) was one of the first scenes to really take a definitive shape in my mind when I was plotting out the book. I write in order, and by the time I got to that point, I knew exactly how it was going to go.

Where is your book set and did you need to conduct research for your setting? If so, how?
The book is set in Connecticut (sometime in the not-so-distant future), so as a New Yorker, I did not need to do any research. Actually, the two towns mentioned by name in the book are where my best friends used to live!

Where would you like to be in your writing in two years’ time?
In two years’ time, I just hope to be back in a good writing routine! I’m expecting twins in June, and I know it’s going to be quite some time before I’ll be able to get back to my various hobbies. And sleeping. I think getting back to sleeping should take precedence over getting back to writing. But it’ll happen eventually!

Tell us three quirky or interesting things about yourself.
1) My bachelor’s degree is in music and I can play many instruments at a reasonable level of proficiency.
2) I like to knit complex lace, the more challenging, the better!
3) When I’m cooking, I always make my pasta sauce from scratch.

How has your family responded to your writing?
My husband knows I write, but as we have very different ideas as to what constitutes an enjoyable reading experience (he loves those giant historical fiction books and biographies of dead presidents, I…do not), he hasn’t read anything I’ve written. Some people think that’s strange, but it doesn’t bother me. I know my mother has read at least some of my books, but I established very early on that we WOULD NOT be discussing them together. I love my mom and we’re very close, but there are certain topics of conversation that don’t need to come up.

What was your darkest hour as a writer?
That first negative review always stings, no matter what anyone says. As hard as it was to resist the temptation, though, I didn’t respond to it. Even now, it bugs me when someone gives a book of mine one star and doesn’t bother saying why, but I know better than to ruin my reputation by engaging and arguing.

What has been your greatest triumph so far as a writer?
Honestly? This book. I love all of my publications for different reasons, but I truly believe Elysium is the best thing I’ve ever written.

Thanks for stopping by, Thea. I loved reading your answers. I can relate about cooking pasta sauce from scratch. Would love to have your recipe. ;) Knitting is fun for me too, but I certainly can't tackle the really hard projects. My next goal is to learn how to use circular needles. I'm fascinated by your story idea as I enjoy watching Ghost Whisperer on Netflix.

Tara Andrews Character Interview

Today, Tara Andrews is interviewing her heroine, Rachel Turner.

Her 1Night Stand romance, Her Everything has just been released. Read the interview and then find out more about her book and the writer herself!

Shortly after Her Everything ends, I posed a few questions to its heroine, Rachel Turner. Note, she’s not very comfortable being in the spotlight, but I’ve assured her it’s just between friends. Girl talk.

So Rachel, you really never heard about Madame Eve and 1Night Stand before your book?

Lord, no. I never knew such an agency existed.

Now that you have, what do you think?

I think it’s great. I mean, if it weren’t for Madame Eve, I wouldn’t have had my happy ending, right? And now I’m starting to hear rumours that she’s quite adept at bringing the right people together. Apparently Mark and I weren’t a fluke success story.

No, you’re right about that, she has the knack for it. But let me ask you, would you have contacted 1Night Stand if you had a chance?  Before your book, of course.

Hmmm, I don’t know. I can picture my sister, Sasha, signing me up without telling me, though. But I don’t know if I would have on my own. I am the shy twin, you know.

Speaking of shy, you were actually quite outgoing in Her Everything. If you had the chance would you change anything?

Well, aside from the whole impersonating my sister thing? Well, I had been promised some playtime that I didn’t quite get.

Playtime?

Uh, well, we only had a night you see, or so we thought….  Never mind, let’s move on.

No, I think we’d all like to know about this playtime. (Rachel shakes her head, her cheeks a little red. Interesting.)  Alright, if you could have a night of no responsibility, all expenses paid, where would you go and how would you spend it?

I hate to sound this way, but its more time than expenses that pose a problem. So, if I could have an entire night free and go anywhere right now, I’d surprise Mark with a visit while he’s on tour. And I’d make him very happy I did so, too. (Rachel clasps a hand over her mouth.)

That’s quite alright. I’d think you were crazy if you didn’t have that in mind. I guess I don’t need to ask you what memory keeps intruding on your thoughts, so we’ll skip that one. How about you tell us, what’s the most romantic thing Mark has done for you?

He wrote me a song called “My Everything.” (She does, indeed, look a little dreamy-eyed.)  Actually, it’s currently number one, isn’t that awesome?

Yes, it is.  Now last question, so we can let all these wonderful people read about your story. If you could ask your author anything, what would it be?

Well, for starters, about that playtime…that the whole press conference thing couldn’t have waited maybe another half hour?

Okay, well, thank you, Rachel. Oh, look here’s your blurb…

Blurb:

Rachel Turner made a mistake—a couple, in fact.  Ruining a surprise meeting with the front man to her favorite band is just the beginning.  But agreeing to switch places with her famous sister may spell the end of both of their careers. With rumors flying and an unexpected invitation from Madame Eve, Rachel hopes she can put the mistakes behind her.

Attending an event to support a charity close to his heart, Mark Travis wasn’t looking for love, or even company—and definitely not with a fan.  But when he puts in a hasty bid at a silent auction and wins the services of 1Night Stand, Madame Eve has something different in mind.  A single evening with a woman she claims can fulfill his needs.  But one night might not be enough.

Come morning, will Mark and Rachel’s unexpected one-night stand give them more than they bargained for?

Excerpt:

On the dance floor, Mark tugged her waist to pull her close. With one hand clasped in his and the other resting on his shoulder, she followed his lead. He danced with the same confidence and style as he walked—sure, commanding, and…so incredibly hot.
Thanks to the four-inch Louboutins Rachel had borrowed from her sister, the top of her head barely reached his chin, but high enough, if she dared, to rest her temple against his cheek. Though tempted to find out if the stubble along his jaw was as soft as it looked, she didn’t dare. But, oh, how she wanted to. At least they were close enough that the spicy scent of his cologne surrounded her.
A love song played, its lyrics about longing the perfect fit for her one-and-only dance with the man she’d admired so long from afar.
“You didn’t come back.” His voice, rough and low, vibrated against her cheek.
She tilted her head to meet his gaze. The intimate proximity allowed her an up-close-and-personal view of his brown eyes, their color reminding her of the amaretto she favored.
His hold on her shifted, bringing them closer, the difference slight, but welcome. The nerves at her waist sizzled under the weight of his palm, while his thumb rubbed the exposed skin of her back. She shivered again from the simple touch, and an answering heat flared in his eyes.
“I…I got called away to help my sister.” She stumbled on the near lie. But, truth be told, she never dreamed Mark would give her a second thought after she’d left, his disinterest so plain to see.
“Sasha?”
So he knew who she was then? “Yes, she’s my sister.”
“Your twin.”
Rachel allowed him to spin her before replying. “That’s correct.”
“I didn’t realize at first. The glasses threw me off, as did your hair.” He smiled then. “Even so, you two are not identical.”
Aside from her and Sasha’s obvious style differences and voices, very few people were able to tell them apart. A knot formed in Rachel’s throat. She didn’t like where his comment appeared to be leading or the way his movements slowed and his brow furrowed.
He met her eyes. “Was that you on stage tonight?”
