Frosty Relations by Tara Quan

Please welcome Tara Quan with her latest paranormal 1Night Stand.

With the holidays upon us there are troves of books to curl up with by the fireplace. My paranormal romantic comedy goes great with mulled wine and cinnamon cookies. Part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand line, Frosty Relations features a young college graduate facing the complicated world of adulthood and confronting the frost mage she’s had a crush on for most of her life. Add some Christmas magic and Madame Eve’s renowned matchmaking service, and we’ve got the beginnings of an icy-hot love story. Those who’ve read my Halloween release Flirting with Fire already know Jack, this tale’s hunk.

Frosty Relations (A Witch’s Night Out, 2)
Blurb:

Attorney Jack Frost never understood why holidays did weird things to people. His secretary went on vacation, his best friend ditched their annual Aspen trip, and the law firm’s stubborn human resources assistant refuses his clerical support request. What’s a warlock to do on Christmas Eve but go on a 1-Night Stand? But when an oddly familiar empath shows up as his date, this ice mage has a hard time denying the magic of the winter solstice.
Faced with an anemic employment market and financial woes, college graduate and former witch Mina Mao lands an HR assistant job at Frost and Sons. Having spent her day saving Christmas from Frost Junior’s Grinch-like behavior, she accepts the gift of Madame Eve’s service and heads over to the Castillo Capital. When her date turns out to be her childhood crush and workplace nemesis, she braces herself for the sexiest icy ride of her life.

Excerpt

Yawning, he settled more comfortably into the seat and embraced the lulling haze. His mind wandered to the day Mina had showed up for an interview. In a departure from her current fashion slump, she’d worn a short skirt suit and glossy-black high-heeled pumps. On her way out, she’d swung by his office to drop off his major weakness—Shanghai White Rabbit Creamy Candy. He’d given her a high five and wished her luck.
That day, she’d stayed for no more than a few minutes and had left the door open. But in this foggy, slumbering vision somewhere between the dreams he could never recall and actual memory, he reached over her shoulder to shut it.
~
A mischievous grin on her face, she tilted her head back and met his gaze. “What do you want, Jack?”
He lifted his index finger and placed it over his lips. “Shh....”
Sashaying past him with feline grace, she shrugged off her jacket to reveal a crimson silk blouse. After draping the discarded garment over an office chair, she turned to face his desk. Placing her palms on the suddenly clutter-free glass, she threw him a sideways glance and motioned him over with her head.
The warmth of balmy fall allowed her to show off those smooth, toned legs. The tailored dark-green cotton hugged her ass’s subtle curve, the back slit giving him glimpses of her creamy thighs.
Coming up behind her, he closed one palm over her mouth. She remained still, her small body trembling as he nibbled her neck. He grazed his teeth over the slender slope, pausing to suck a bright-red hickey onto her snowy skin.
Hearing a muffled moan, he clamped his fingers tighter as he slid his other hand under her skirt. Finding damp heat, he yanked down her panties. The scarlet lace fell to circle her four-inch heels.
Biting her earlobe, he whispered, “Stay quiet, or everyone will know I’m fucking you.”
With one hand, he unbuckled his belt and freed his erection, his other arm still holding her in silent captivity. He kicked her legs apart and hiked up her skirt. Sliding his length between the creamy cheeks, he probed her wet opening with the tip of his cock.
~
A loud feline hiss jerked him out of the dream. Sharp claws dug into his thighs as the chair rolled back and hit the wall. The cat scampered off his lap. Rubbing his eyes, he tried to remember where he was. Once his mind regained focus, he glanced down at his crotch and noticed the very visible bulge. He could see why she’d reacted in a rather extreme fashion.
With a soft popping sound, the woman whose bare butt he’d envisioned appeared in front of him, her snowflake earrings swaying against the sides of her rosy face. At least she’d lost the Santa hat. “What the heck were you thinking about?”
The most honest answer would give her the wrong idea. After all, he wasn’t attracted to her. He’d happened to be envisioning office sex with someone who bore a remarkable resemblance to her, at the same time he got an erection, while she’d been on his lap—all unrelated events.

Story and Author Bite:

I'm going to feature Rosemary Rey and her story, Always the Last One

When writer Elyce Fielding last saw Griffin Belanger for their last sexual tryst, Elyce had an epiphany that she could no longer continue having a “no strings attached” relationship with Griffin, who was her best friend in college. The curvy, young woman could no longer live in the background of the handsome actor who was in the city for his film premiere. Elyce had tried everything to forget about his presence in Boston by getting her favorite take-out and raided her small studio apartment for a sweet treat. When Griffin calls in the middle of the night, can Elyce deny him the very thing which kept them connected all the years since graduating from college?
About the Author
After years of making little money as a public interest lawyer, Rosemary Rey left practice to make her fantasies come alive on the page. She writes in the Midwest while her three children spend time at school then arrive home to play video games on their Kindles, as her husband looks over forlornly at her typing in front of the blue screen. Rosemary has been reading books for pleasure all her life and started writing short stories for her own pleasure since the age of ten-years-old. After months of thinking about writing a novel, Rosemary self published her first book as a ‘before I hit 40′ goal. Rebound was conceived in January of 2014, after she couldn’t stop thinking about the characters swirling in her head. In order to justify writing Erotic Suspense instead of her legal practice, Rosemary incorporated legal concepts in her series, so she could tell her loved ones that her active license is still put to good use, but should NEVER be used as legal advice.

Character Interview and Spotlight for Audio Book - Rise of the Lost Prince

Rise of the Lost Prince by +London Saint James
Series: Lost Boys,  book 1
Genre: Erotic, paranormal, fantasy, naughty fairy tale
Add to Goodreads

Listening Length: 5 hours and 1 minute
Program Type: Audiobook
Version: Unabridged
Narrator: John Thrust
Audible.com Release Date: February 26, 2015

They fight to protect those who would never welcome them into the human world...

PetĂşr always knew he and his brothers-in-arms were different. Something more. Something not human. Yet, he never expected to find out the truth of their origins, nor fall for a human woman whose father was set to destroy Neverland.

Ever since she was a child, Wyndi dreamed of an angel with eyes of the purest gold, although she never really believed such a man existed until she met the hauntingly beautiful PetĂşr of the lost boys.
With a prophecy to fulfill, a woman to protect, a portal to find, and evil darklings out for blood, will PetĂşr be strong enough to rise up and claim what’s rightfully his, or lose everything to a long-time nemesis, Grapple the Dark?

Her tongue darted out, licking her lips. Was she nervous? Well, he’d be the balm to soothe those nerves. He focused on her mouth. Those delicious lips were kiss swollen and moist, making his cock strain even more against the constraint of his pants.
“Okay,” she said in a small, breathy voice, the lids covering her blue eyes at half-mast.
He reached for the hem of the too big nightshirt covering the body he had to see, lifting until he revealed her little white panties and lacy bra covered breasts. Blood raced through his veins. He wanted to do everything with her. To her. Touch all over. Taste every inch of her. Put his fingers and cock into the tight, warm sheath he knew was awaiting him.
Take her. Hell yeah. Those two words became a chant within his mind. He wanted to take his woman in every position he could imagine and then some. His woman? Yes. Yes she was his, or would be. Slow your roll. You don’t want to scare her. He had to maintain. He couldn’t go at her like some out of control beast.
Leaning down, he kissed between the creamy mounds of her cleavage, skimmed his cheek across the apex of her right breast, watching goose bumps scatter across her flesh in a wanton invitation. Unable to stop himself from licking her, he lapped at her in one, long, lingering stroke, from the top edge of the bra, up her collarbone, only stopping because the material he’d lifted hindered his progress being bunched around her neck.
“Oh, hell,” he muttered. “You taste so good.”
She shook, and he wanted her shakes.
“I do?”
“Yes,” he answered, feeling her warm palms slide down his biceps. Even that tantalized him. “I’m already addicted.” He went to his elbows, slid his hands under her shoulder blades, arching her up, dropped his head, grabbed the flimsy middle of her bra with his teeth, bit, and tugged, ripping it free.
“Oh!” she uttered.
Moving the material aside with his nose, he pulled back enough to see her, soaking every bit of her pink and white flesh in with his eyes, before flicking a rosebud nipple with the tip of his tongue.
“PetĂşr.” He reveled in the sound of his name falling from her lips, and sucked the nipple he’d been teasing into his mouth. “Mm…We should stop.” He lightly bit. Swirled his tongue around the aroused nub. “Oh…Never mind. Don’t stop,” she uttered, as she wrapped her legs around his waist.
“Never stop. No.” He sounded like a Neanderthal, but just then, when Wyndi pressed herself into his erection, he didn’t care.

Character Interview:

London’s lunch with the Lost Boys of Rise of the Lost Prince.

LSJ: *Pulls up a seat and waves* Vapor. Dash. Firefox. Vibe. Tera and Byte. Thanks for hanging out with me today. Did you have any problems with my directions? I stink at giving directions.

Vibe: You’re welcome. Thanks for asking us. *Glances around* You have a nice place here, and no, we didn’t have problems finding you.

LSJ: Thank you. I’m glad you didn’t have issues finding your way here. *Pours a glass of sweet tea and passes the pitcher to Tera* Lunch will be ready in a minute or two. Burgers and ribs are almost done grilling. I hope everyone likes BBQ.

Firefox: Love it.

LSJ: *Grins* Good. I wish Bell could have come.

Vibe: She went with Wyndi and PetĂşr to locate the portal.

LSJ: Do you think they’ll find it?

Dash: *Sits the pitcher of tea down on the table* Wyndi said she had a vision. She seemed pretty sure of the location.

LSJ: *Nods* Sorry if I’m gawking.

Dash: Don’t be.

LSJ: It’s just…Well; you guys are some of the best looking men I’ve ever seen.

Vapor: Thanks, sugar lips. *Winks* You can gawk at me any time. *Gives me the once over* In fact. Let’s leave the rest of these losers and go ‘gawk’ at each other in private.

LSJ: *Pats chest* You are the charmer, Vapor.

Dash: *Snort* Vapor’s something, but I wouldn’t go with charmer.

Vapor: Bite me, Dash. *Flips Dash the bird*

*Firefox flings a flame from his fingers. It arcs high, headed for Vapor*
*Vapor extinguishes the flame with a ball of water that splashes when it hits the tiled floor*

Firefox: Stop flirting, water boy.

Vapor: What’s it to you, hot head?

Tera: Come on guys. Stop acting like uncivilized roughians. *Smiles at me* Sorry, London.

Byte: Yeah. What he said. Sorry, London.

LSJ: You guys are fine. No worries. *Takes a sip of my tea. Swallows* Do you guys always bicker?

Firefox: Most times. But, that’s just how we are. Although, I’d die for any one of my brothers.

Vibe: We’d all do the same.

Vapor: We’ve all got each other’s backs.

LSJ: All for one and one for all, huh?

Tera: *Chuckles* Something like that, but isn’t that the three musketeers?

LSJ: *Laughs* Yeah. I think it is. *Buzzer sounds* Well, that’s my timer. I better go round up the burgers and the ribs.

Tera and Byte: *In harmonized unison* We’ll help you.

Vapor: I’ll help, too.

Firefox: Me, too.

Dash: *Groans*

Vibe: *Rolls his silver eyes*

LSJ: Sure guys. The more the merrier. Follow me.

Vapor: *Puts his arm around my shoulders* I’ll follow you anywhere.

LSJ: *Blushes*

Spotlight and Review for Wolf's Song by Taryn Kincaid

Wolf's Song
By Taryn Kincaid
A Black Wolves Story

Blurb:

Ten years ago, visions of death and the babble of lupine voices in his head, drove lone wolf Brick Northridge to challenge his cruel and greedy pack alpha. Beaten by the alpha’s thugs and banished from the pack, Brick lives a life of seclusion in a mountain cabin in the Black Hills.

Born into a rival clan of feline shifters, skinwalker Summer McCoy, in her guise as a raven, watches Brick from afar, giving him back a reason to live through her sweet songs and special gifts.

But when her clan attempts to tear them apart and threatens the pack that banished Brick so many years before, will their love be strong enough to withstand the forces bent on their destruction?

Excerpt:

Summer McCoy perched in the uppermost branches of her special Ponderosa pine, in raven guise, engaging in her favorite pastime, spying on the lone wolf chopping wood below. Two days’ worth of whiskers shadowed his rigid jaw. She loved when he forgot—or didn’t bother—to shave. Scruffy stubble suited him.

The sun beat down on the back of his bronzed neck and shone on his hair, the color of roasted coffee, a shade lighter than the dark shadow that charcoaled his face.

She fluffed her feathers in anticipation. Take your shirt off, Brick. She’d heard the giant werebear, Gee, call him that name a decade ago. He’d made some joke about a wall and the hardness of the male’s head. But Brick hadn’t laughed back then. Not ever.

He’d fascinated her from the moment he’d arrived in the glade, bruised and battered. Once she’d learned his name, she’d treasured it, taking pleasure from repeating it often. Secretly, of course. Unwrapping the syllable frequently to admire its radiance in the privacy of her tree house, the way a woman wearing pearls against her warm skin enhanced their luminosity and iridescence.

Now, as if he’d heard her silent urging, he complied with her plea, shrugging out of the plaid flannel and flinging it onto a tree stump. Her beak opened as she sucked in breath. Sweat glistened on his torso, glazing rippling pecs and abs, shoulders broad enough to span the Badlands. A huge, incredible specimen of masculinity. Thick biceps flexed as he wielded the ax. Her heart beat faster than a hummingbird’s wings. Heat licked her.

My Review:

I've never read a Black Hills Wolves story before. I've wanted to so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. At first, I wasn't sure of the lingo - I was taken into an alternate world where shifters live. And although I've read shifter stories before, I didn't know what was going on at first. It intrigued me though. Summer, the bird shifter (or she's really a cat shifter) was so sweet and I adored her infatuation with Brick. Watching her love unfold and then his discovery of her womanhood was touching, hot and great fun to read. How romantic!

I love a wounded hero, and Brick was a great one - tough yet gentle, wounded yet powerful, and the chemistry and tenderness between them is beautiful. Taryn has a poetic voice - she uses words to paint pictures that touch the senses. You can't help being pulled in to the world she's created. Her writing is sassy yet touching. The sex scenes were smoking and satisfying.

I'm really keen to read all the books in this series - I love the paranormal part but what I also would like is to discover each character in the Black Hills. By the sounds of this book, there are many interesting characters and many potentials for deep conflict.

V. S. Morgan Spotlight and Giveaway

Today, I have fellow Decadent Publishing Beyond Fairytales author V.S. Morgan on my blog talking about her new release called Hunter's Mark. She's also running a giveaway so don't forget to take part at the bottom of the post.

Her book is a paranormal male/male erotic romance. The men on the cover are sexy!

Blurb:

Artist Casey Smith lives a quiet life, under the radar of his enemies, until one fateful night he loses control and the astonishing image of a wolf racing down a suburban street splashes all over social media.

Hunter’s bullet never misses its target. The assassin seeks out and kills his prey with a clear conscience by following two simple rules: 1) Don’t kill innocents 2) Don’t kill shifters.

Realizing his latest assignment violates those rules, the hunter activates Princess Protocol and the assassin becomes the protector. Red hot attraction flares between the hit man and his former target. Can Hunter resist the sweet shifter in his care?

Available many locations including:

Excerpt:

He stepped closer to Casey’s stall but stumbled over something small and furry. The toe of one Birkenstock caught on a clump of grass as he attempted not to trample the little beast, and he ass-planted with said beast jumping onto his chest to give him a broad doggie smile.
His buddy laughed piss-your-pants-hard in his ear. Fuck a duck.
“Miss Priscilla!”
The target he’d worked so hard to observe remotely sank to the ground between his sprawled-out legs, peeling the tiny hairball off his chest and setting it on the ground.
“I’m so sorry! Are you okay?”
Big blue eyes fringed with long, pale lashes scanned his body while strong yet gentle hands moved over his ankles and legs, searching for an injury. Oh, a toucher. His wolf basked in the tactile attention. His breath hitched as those hands glided past his knees and skimmed his thighs.
Damn, he needed to get laid after this assignment.
“Oh, my, what a li’l sweetie. Look at those freckles! I wonder if he’s got them everywhere. I’d like to lick them,” Rex crowed in his ear.
He growled.
The other man chortled. “Possessive, much?”
He inhaled deeply, only to be slammed with the force of a Mack truck. Strawberries on a warm summer’s day and fresh-cut grass—shit, his target smelled delicious. He took another breath, and his brain reeled. He’s a wolf shifter, too? Fuck.
Casey’s brows furrowed. “Where are you hurt?”
He forced a smile. “I’m fine. No worries.”
Casey returned the smile, his wide and high beam combined with sparkling eyes. Hunter stared as warmth wrapped around him like a blanket. He had no ammo against such a happy, open expression. The guy freaking glowed.

Book video

Mini excerpt for GODDESS, AWAKENED
In starting her life over, Joss had expected some resistance, even some trouble, but not this. The bedroom floor boards trembled beneath her golden-slippered feet. Tendrils of an unseen power curled upward from deep within the ground, tingling through her toes. She paused to steady herself, then continued to put the finishing touches on her costume. The tremors grew into rumbles and their hum seeped beneath her skin. When their tiny wisps twined through her mind, she clenched her hands. Enough. Go away.
Thick as starlight on a clear summer’s eve, sweet as the lavender blossoms she had yet to plant, energy whooshed up through the cracks of the worn wood and out into the October night.
She gripped the bureau until it passed, the vibrations rolling over her in lessening waves. Bubbly, effervescent waves. “Third time tonight, Taz.” Each departure took longer, and more of the essence remained.
When the dog whined, she stroked his fur. “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you.”
Even if tonight the waves were palpable enough to make her hairs stand on end. Oh, no, please.
Nothing could ruin tonight. More than a party, this event would determine her future. And after three years of grief, she’d never allow anything to trap her in its clutches again.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading this fantasy, paranormal romance. The book had many facets and kept me gripped and entertained for hours. Jocelyn is new to town and opens up The Lavender Inn with her friend, Annie, who cooks gourmet. She's bright, kind, and energetic but hides loneliness behind her goddess persona. The setting is dreamy and I'd love to visit it, if it were not for the undercurrents of evil spiritual activity which reach a climax several times in the book. What amazes me is how the author transitions from touching romance to scary paranormal to fantasy and then to an everyday feel like Katie Fforde while she runs her inn. Jocelyn (Joss) is a goddess but denied her powers for years because her previous husband wasn't keen on the whole idea. She has to face up to her powers when the man she loves (although she doesn't know she loves him yet) is endangered by the evil powers in the area.

The book will keep you gripped. It's unique, has much conflict, and the romance keeps you hooked. It's also an escape. I loved the Lavender Inn and Taz (the dog) and have even considered planting lavender after hearing of all the benefits of the plant. Definitely one of those stories that get you pondering and thinking. Deep and sweet yet scary and suspenseful at the same time. You'll enter a fantasy world of a difference to the norm, and I'm pleased that this is the first of a series. I love the message thread throughout the book - that every woman is a goddess and should find a man who makes her feel that way.
